2. Cu metal, in 0.1mbar O2, room temp.
Mechanical polishing down to 0.05 microns. Mounted with thermocouple onto a stainless steel sample holder.
Sputter cleaned with Ar ion beam to remove C and O. Annealed in vacuum to 700 C.
The data set was measured shortly after 0.1 mbar of O2 was introduced.

3. Cu2O, in 0.1 mbar O2, 200 C
Mechanical polishing down to 0.05 microns. Mounted with thermocouple onto a stainless steel sample holder.
Sputter cleaned with Ar ion beam to remove C and O. Annealed in vacuum to 700 C. Heated to 200 C in 0.1 mbar O2.
This data set was collected over several hours. The Cu metal oxidized to Cu2O. These spectra are the average of spectra measured while the sample was stable in the Cu2O form.

4. CuO, in 0.1 mbar O2, 300 C
Mechanical polishing down to 0.05 microns. Mounted with thermocouple onto a stainless steel sample holder.
Sputter cleaned with Ar ion beam to remove C and O. Annealed in vacuum to 700 C. Heated to 200 C in 0.1 mbar O2 for 8 hours. Increased temperature to 300 C.
These spectra were measured after the sample had been transformed to CuO. The data set represents an average of spectra measured over 1.5 hours.
